The Ozbirn School of Hair

Daddy is not too fond of short hair on girls. In fact he has only let Laura cut her hair one time. She loved it of course and has been wanting it short again. It was really time that she needed it cut again because her hair is so thick and she has a hard time taking care of it properly. Since her hair was long enough to donate again we talked Daddy into letting her cut it. I always cut the boys' hair and Laura wanted me to cut hers too rather than going to a salon. So that is what we did. We ended up cutting off 12 inches and she was able to donate it to The Locks of Love foundation. It took me a really long time and there were a few parts that were kind of messed up but over all we did good for our first girl haircut.

Mt. Lemmon

After we got home from St. George James still had a couple of days off. James wanted to take the kids fishing. We discovered that there is a lake up in Mt. Lemmon in Tucson. Mt. Lemmon gets snow in the winter and it is cooler there. At the lake it was about 25-30 degrees cooler than at the foot of the mountain. The lake was at 7000 feet. In the past we have not had good times driving through mountains due to car sickness. The drive up Mt. Lemmon actually wasn't bad at all and was again, absloutely gorgeous. In the end (I can't remeber who caught what and how many) but we came home with 9 trout and 3 crayfish. The boys even got to clean their own fish all by themselves!

St. George

This summer we were fortunate enough to be able to take a mini vacation. It was a last minute decision, as is everything in the Ozbirn household. James had brought up going up north to Flagstaff or Prescott but I convinced him to drive a little further to St. George Utah to see the Fulfords. Since neither of our vehicles would make it, a good friend of ours let us use his Yukon, so we even got to ride in style!!! Since we weren't in our vehicle there was no eating or drinking anything but water. So what was supposed to be just under an 8 hour trip took us 10 1/2. The kids did awesome in the car and the scenery was absolutely gorgeous. I will refrain from posing my landscape pictures because James says all mountains look the same. It was Dakota's 14th birthday while we were there so we went bowling. The kids have been before but towards the end of the night it turned into "glow" bowling. They fired up the black lights and cranked up the jams and the kids had dance party USA!

We also, of course, had to visit The Sportsman's Warehouse. Now in retaliation to James thinking all mountains look the same...All Sportman's Warehouses look the same!

We were also able to be in St. Goerge for the 4th of July. As if it weren't hot enough....I thought it would be fun to roast marshmallows! Mike wasn't feeling well that day and by the end of night I made it even worse....

Since the Fulford's neighborhood is the ultimate neighborhood, my kids pretty much did not come in teh house the enitre time. This is James' feet at the end of the day!
Of course the cute couple......

Utah passed a law this year that allowed regular people to do some pretty neat fireworks. Since my hubby is a firework fanatic, we just had to get fireworks. Also since my hubby is Mr. Shy Guy, I had to end up lighting them because there was a crowd of people outside that might actually see him. Everything was going well until the very last firework. The thing tipped over and shot at the neighbor's hedges and caught the thing on fire! I'm talking flames! Fortunately the neighbor was very nice and understood that we were from out of state and got a little firework crazy :)

Well after I set the neighborhood on fire Becky and I had to get a picture together because we were leaving the next day.

We got up in the middle of the night (about 2 or 3 am) and headed home. Since we were going to be driving right by Vegas we decided to just take a stroll down the strip. I do have to say that was the the most interesting and scary stroll I have ever taken! The buildings and lights were incredible but that wasn't to say for the people we saw! I guess maybe there might not have been so many crazies if it wasn't 4am.

We also drove over the Hoover Dam and I was SUPER disapointed. This year they opened a new bridge to drive over to save time. You coudln't even see the dam at all! We later found out that there is still an exit to drive over the dam but we were too tired on the way home to do it.

So over all our last minute mini vacation was a blast! I'm not too sure the Fulford's felt the same way after we left though ;)

Welcome back!

I know it has been about 3 months since I have blogged but I was very busy. Lately I've just been lazy and really there hasn't been too much to blog about.

Back in April we moved. Still in the same town just a different house. May 13th was a special day here in the Ozbirn household. It was the release of Justin Bieber's movie and we had two little girls who have been counting it down.

Maddi turned 4 the end of May. We had a family party at Greg and Laurel's to celebrate not only Maddi's 4th birthday but also Memorial day. She had a great birthday and was spoiled by many of coarse!
The beginning of June was the end of another school year.

Now here we are at the end of June. It's hot and miserable here. The kids are board and driving me crazy! On one hand Aug 8th just can't come soon enough, yet on the other, it seems like summer just started!

No longer in my 20's

March 31st I turned 30 years old. 30 to me is not old at all! My sister went through a mini crisis and James also had a hard time but to me it was no big deal. My friend Holly came and brought me lunch and brownies and hung out with me for the day. I wanted egg plant Parmesan for my dinner so that is what I made. Laura made my cake for me. I didn't get any pictures really because it's kind of hard to take pictures of yourself, and I don't like pictures of myself anyway!

Tombstone

When the kids were on spring break we took them to Tombstone Arizona. It was beautiful ride south. Since we have lived here James (Big James) has always wanted to go there. Right here in our rinky dink town there used to be a little "town" where a fight would take place. Unfortunately the people that ran it didn't make enough money here so moved north to the bigger cities. I took the kids once and they loved it. All except Maddi because at the time she was a baby and the "gun shots" were too loud for her. We thought for sure that the kids would love Tombstone. When we told them we were going they didn't seem too thrilled. They warmed up to the idea and eventually were very excited to go. They had a blast while we were there also. It was a FULL day of walking and we were all wiped out but it sure was worth it. We went on a guided walking tour when we first got there. It was informing but the guy leading it was, to our disappointment, was from New York. We also toured the old court house, the bird cage, the kids shot some guns, we went through the shops and we toured an old silver mine. We missed the gun fight at the OK Corral but did get to see a bit of action on the street. Tombstone was definitely a tourist town and was a bit on the pricey side but we all had a blast and created memories we will have forever!

There were these stagecoach rides everywhere!

Maddi....about 10 minutes into the ride on the way home!

My own little Van Gogh

Today Maddi Drew me this picture. She told me it was me. The dots she said are my zits! Gotta love her!
