Lots of Locks of Love

Today was a happy but sad day at the Ozbirn house. Laura got her very 1st real hair cut. She has been wanting to cut it for a really long time now. With the exception of a very tiny trim that I did, she has never had her hair cut. Her and I had an agreement that we would both grow out our hair and then cut it together for her 8th birthday. Well, it's been too hot here and we just couldn't wait until August! So today was the day. On the way to the beauty salon we were talking and she said she would go first. Then we got there and she changed her mind. She had asked me earlier in the day "Mom, how is my hair going to be cut?" So I told her that we would put her hair into braids and then Mary (our neighbor who cut our hair) would just cut right above the braid. I told her to pretend my fingers were the scissors and I showed her how it would be done. She then said "Oh! That didn't hurt!" Laura got 14 inches cut off and mine was 17 inches. We donated our hair to the Locks of Love Foundation and Mary was very generous and donated our cuts! I love her new hair cut but poor Daddy was very sad. He totally opposed the haircuts especially for his baby Woo! Laura absolutely loves her new haircut! She has been talking aboout the different things she can do with it and how she doens't have to brush it so much anymore! As soon as we got home she went into the bathroom to brush it and she was so happy she could reach to brush the back of her hair now all by herself! So here are some before and after pictures and a video of Laura's 1st braid being cut!

  1. Oh my gosh!! You both look great! I donated my hair to locks for love too, but I only had 8 or 9 inches. But they still took it. When is the last time you had your hair cut Traci? I didn't realize your hair was that long! Both your new haircuts are adorable!
